When the initial shock settled, the grief and heartache felt incredibly heavy. As an artist, my paintbrushes have always been my way of moving through complex emotions. I didn't plan this piece out, and I didn't sketch it for weeks. I simply picked up my watercolor palette because I needed a safe place to channel my grief and process the loss of an icon who meant so much to me.
